8. How did you come to draw Mandala and Thankgka?

A)I started creating mandalas when I was in fourth grade. Initially, I was inspired by the intricate designs and patterns I saw on a temple engraved on stone. Temples and bihars of Nepal have intricate designs and patterns that has influences me and really sparked my interest in mandala and patterns. This led me to dive deeper into the world of mandalas and traditional art like thangka. I began painting thangka art three years ago, and drawing mandalas has become a form of meditation for me.

We are thrilled to introduce Anoma’s new artwoks and her statements.

“I designed this mandala for the entry in Mandala x SAKURA 2024. This mandala was a fun experiment i did with Sakura GELLY ROLL pens, a combination of purple and blue.
Firstly, I drew outline with the help of micron pens. Then, i started coloring the mandala with purple, blue and white GELLY ROLL pens. The paint like pens of SAKURA made the process even better for me. The mandala turned out vibrant and pretty.”

“I created this mandala as a symbol representing the unity in diversity of Nepal. I included people wearing their traditional dresses on each mandala surrounding the map of Nepal. I’ve placed each person in their traditional dresses within individual mandalas yet using the same color for all the mandalas to represent the powerful symbol of togetherness. It’s a beautiful reminder that despite our differences, we can find common ground and celebrate our diversities. And I’ve colored the map of Nepal in shades of crimson which symbolizes the flag of Nepal and ive also included some of the national heritages of Nepal.
I used PIGMA micron BLACK 6-ps.set for the put line of this mandala and PIGMA micron 8-color SET for the highlights and Sakura GELLY ROLL Moonlight and white to color the  mandala. I also used SAKURA pocket field watercolor to color the mandala.”

We are delighted to receive Anoma’s kind words and appreciate her thorough understanding of Sakura products. Please continue to inspire everyone with your wonderful creations. Thank you for supporting SAKURA.
